Patricia Walsh works through painting, drawing and collage to understand nature as it continues to change through natural and man-made processes.
Artist Statement.
My art is an exploration of the natural world, driven by a fascination with the ever-changing landscapes that surround us. Through painting, drawing, and collage, I seek to understand and interpret the intricate processes that shape our environment, both natural and man-made. My work is a reflection of the respect and wonderment I hold for the flora and fauna that inhabit our shared planet. My art is a celebration of the natural world and an invitation to contemplate our place within it. Through my work, I hope to inspire a greater appreciation for the beauty and complexity of the environment we call home.
The Outdoors.
As a plein air and studio artist, I draw upon my professional training, experimentation, and keen observation skills to capture the essence of the landscapes I encounter. My outdoor paintings are a response to the beauty, colors, and vastness of nature, inviting the viewer to recognize our place within something far more ancient and expansive than ourselves. The Hudson Valley region serves as a constant source of inspiration for my work as well as my travels around the globe.

Collage.
Collage, for me, is a more personal and introspective process. It allows me to meditate on specific ideas and concepts that inspire both my artistic and administrative work. Through the layering of images and references to nature, I unpack areas where I may feel stuck, discovering phrases or concepts that encourage me to persevere in life and work.
